On this Friday the 13th, it seemed appropriate that I should return home to find my neighbour's black cat crossing my path.
Although I suppose he was sitting in my path rather than crossing it. And there is a lot of white mixed in with the black. But I'll take what I can get.
Happy Friday the 13th!

no joke
In downtown Halifax, there is an empty lot the size of one city block, that used to hold the old newspaper building. Now it sits, abandoned and decrepit, awaiting a decision on the construction of a new convention centre. In the meantime, it has become the occasional home of outdoor art installations. The most recent of these has seen the entire lot strewn with "bodies".
According to the artist, it represents "a frozen, fenced-in population, at once ambiguous, abstract, wondrous".
