After a stretch of snow and frigid temperatures, today felt distinctly like springtime. And knowing that the feeling won't last, I took the opportunity to go for a long afternoon walk. Where I encountered a sight that that made the mild day feel even warmer.
There's nothing that brings joy to a winter day like a neighbour's pumpkin banner. Still flying proudly in January. Although I'm not sure how the rabbits fit in.

new year's day
It's become a tradition on this day in recent years to go for a long afternoon walk with my camera. And think about resolutions. Or the lack thereof.
I have long since given up on the more traditional resolutions, but in past years, I have attempted some Halloween resolutions. A collection of my haunted hopes and dreams. But sadly, these have, more often than not, turned out much the same as my long-forgotten standard resolutions. Badly. So this year, I have decided that my Halloween resolutions will be . . . non-existent. No plans. No good intentions. No goals whatsoever. It might be interesting to see how this turns out. Happy 2012.
