After a stretch of snow and frigid temperatures, today felt distinctly like springtime. And knowing that the feeling won't last, I took the opportunity to go for a long afternoon walk. Where I encountered a sight that that made the mild day feel even warmer.
There's nothing that brings joy to a winter day like a neighbour's pumpkin banner. Still flying proudly in January. Although I'm not sure how the rabbits fit in.

Maybe they are fierce little rabbits. We used to own one that would pin her ears and launch herself at us teeth barred. She was a lot like the rabbit in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. "That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on!"
It could fit both Halloween and Easter. I think the rabbits do fit, in a way: they are autumnal creatures too, the object of hunting (an autumnal activity) and as Halloween is associated with feasting, the rabbits fit. Oh and of course they are a symbol of fertility.
Maybe I am reading too much into this.
Well Hello and Happy New Year to you! I've been detained against my will, trapped in the seemingly never ending holiday of excess and joy....blech! Finally escaped long enough to check back into blog land and see how everyone else fared. Our weather here....well hot as usual....go figure! Fine by me...I'd prefer to just skip winter all together this year and head straight into Spring. Hope you and your family had a nice holiday and looking forward to the year ahead. I'd consider that pumpkin flag as a very good omen for the new year. :o) It's those little signs when you least expect them that mean the most...ha! Just 10 short months to Halloween! :o)

They shall be sacrificed to The Great Pumpkin, of course. ; )
That really is sweet - not to mention adorable. What a delight autumn time reminder to chance upon in your very own neighbourhood this far after Halloween/Thanksgiving.
Wishing you a wonderful day,
Jessica
