fascinating

Being endlessly fascinated by the pageantry of the British monarchy, I spent a large part of yesterday on the couch, immersed in television coverage of the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. An event that has absolutely nothing to do with Halloween. Or so I believed.

And then I saw the terrifying parade of "fascinators". Those decorative head ornaments, each larger and more ornate than the last. And it occurred to me. Given the right atmosphere and lighting, these accessories were potentially more terrifying than any Halloween costume in recent memory.

The award for most horrifying of all would have to go to Princess Beatrice. Not a sight I'd want to encounter on a cold and dark October night.

fugitives

Dashing into my local grocery store yesterday for some last minute Easter dinner ingredients, I caught a glimmer of bright orange as I passed the potted Easter plants and assorted bunny rabbit images.

Upon closer inspection, I discovered a small collection of jack-0-lantern pots, having obviously broken free from their seasonal restraints.

It warms my heart.

Happy Easter

Sadly, by the time I discovered this, I noticed that they had sold out. And then to add insult to injury, it appeared to be a belated April Fool's joke. There's nothing funny about zombie bunnies. Nothing at all.

If only. . . *sigh*. Happy Easter anyway.

revelation

When the snow finally melts, all is revealed.

Including these guys, who survived the winter under the mountains of snow in a neighbour's yard. And are now free. Free to bask in the early spring sunshine and make their plans for next Halloween.
