I am so sorry. I should have realized about hurricane Earl. Living out here in California, we don't have many of them. We just hear about it on the news. I'm sorry about your pumpkin and hope you and yours weathered the storm ok.
Wow...the first pumpkins of the season. That's always exciting, even if they do mock you as you walk by. We tried to buy canned pumpkin at our grocery store to make chocolate chip/pumpkin bread the other day and would you believe the shelf was EMPTY! And it had a sign that said that said it was empty due to a pumpkin shortage and their inability to get any from their suppliers. What's up with that? I was scared to death that there may be no real pumpkins this Fall if we can't even get some stock piled cans of canned pumpkin. So I consider your post as a good sign of hope!
I keep hearing about this pumpkin shortage and empty shelves, but it hasn't (yet) affected my grocery store. It might be time to stock up and start a canned pumpkin distribution business ;)

What secret, magical place do those big, round, orange, perfect pumpkins come from? It's just a mystery.
I really dig the scene printed on that big box. Very old school orange and black.
YAY!!! The pumpkins are here!
No, those Jacks are mocking poor me here in non-Halloween celebrating-teeny pumpkin growing-and not many of those at that-England.
I covet that box of pumpkins!
From my childhood I always loved those displays. The pumpkins, the boxes with the atmospheric pictures.
Earl, are you in there?
To clear up some confusion, Earl is (was) a hurricane, not a pumpkin. No self-respecting pumpkin could be named Earl. ;)
