But one day, as I was finishing off a bottle of wine, the cork beckoned to me. "Halloween tree ornament," it whispered. Perhaps it was the wine talking. I prefer to believe it was the cork.
And indeed, it was the perfect size for a tree ornament. So out came the paint, and it was transformed into a wine-cork-o-lantern.
Another bottle of wine; another cork-o-lantern. Another bottle of wine; another cork-o-lantern . . . You get the idea.

Two thoughts come to mind. The smell of burning cork is not among my favourites. And I seriously need to reduce my wine consumption.

Burning corks. My grandfather used to burn the end of corks and draw moustaches on my cousins.
These ornaments are fun and qualify as a great recycling idea too!
all in the name of getting tipsy... uummm... i mean ART!
hehehhe
they are adorable!
I live close to Amador County, home of the big red wines in California.
It is not humanly possible to reduce my wine consumption!
Reduce your wine consumption?! Are you mad?! Sacrifices must be made for art!
Those are really cool! But I do hope for your liver's sake that all of them weren't collected in one evening!
You've got a great idea there! By the way, did you received my package?
That post made me laugh. :)
Cork-O-Lantern...genius!
Oh, now that is a project that truly calls to my heart!!!
Several of my friends and I just got done with "more than I would like to admit" bottles of wine.
I threw the corks in the trash!! What was I thinking!!!
I love, yet another reason, for drinking .....wine.
I will trade ShellHawk some California cab wine for some Northwest pinot! :)
Thanks for sharing this great idea!
Cheers!
No worries Mr. M. It took nearly a month :)
